We are seeking a full-time Grounds Keeping Specialist to support the development and delivery of our grounds-based habilitation programs. This role is part of our Day Program and follows a Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM schedule.

As a Grounds Keeping Specialist, you will guide participants in learning new skills, ensure a safe and supportive environment, and model proper use of tools and equipment. You will also take an active role in maintaining the natural spaces that make Bittersweet Farms unique.


Position Details

Pay: $16.50–$17.50 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM


Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of local wildlife, plants, and natural environments
  • Maintain trail systems and outdoor program areas
  • Model and teach safe and appropriate use of tools and equipment
  • Track, manage, and assign tools and equipment daily
  • Organize task schedules, assign participant roles, and prioritize projects
  • Maintain inventory records and identify supply needs
  • Plan tasks and activities to support program goals
  • Mentor new Outdoors staff on procedures and participants
  • Foster positive, supportive interactions with staff, participants, and community members
  • Support direct care needs across the organization as required

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
  • Two or more years of leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated patience and consistency in challenging situations
  • Experience using a range of tools and equipment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license with insurability required
